Links to Dementia

According to the Lancet Commission Report 2020, untreated hearing loss can increase the risk of dementia in later life. [ link to study ]

Research suggests that if left untreated, people with mild symptoms of hearing loss may be twice as likely to develop dementia as those with healthy hearing. People with severe hearing loss may be five times more likely to develop dementia if left untreated.

Early diagnosis and immediate intervention are important as hearing loss can lead to lowered mental stimulation and isolation.

In the report it is outlined that treating hearing loss with the fitting of hearing aids may protect against this cognitive decline by keeping the brain actively engaged in everyday life.

Don’t delay, now is the time to get your hearing checked, booking a hearing test today.

From the results of your hearing test, we will determine the type and level of the hearing loss and provide solutions for managing it.
